Art Car Parade Houston Texas May  2006

The 2006 parade had an estimated 200,000 spectators lined up to see 262 art car entries, of which maybe 200 entries showed up. The Grand Marshall was ZZ Top member Dusty Hill, riding in the back of a Chevrolet Monte Carlo convertible lowrider called "The Multi-Carlo." He was followed by Houston Mayor Bill White in the "Jet Car."

The definition of "car" is loosely interpreted, as it can also mean a Peterbilt towing a flatbed trailer filled with chanting Hare Krishnas; a fleet of vintage Vespas; five "Electric Muffins" from, of course, Berkeley, California; a boat on a Toyota chassis ("Toybota");  a rolling bathtub; an Edsel bulldozer; and "EarthMan," a guy clad in a genuine-looking space suit on a Segway. "Weego" is a Yugo "4x4" (that means it has been shortened to 4 feet long, 4 feet wide).
